Questionnaire: Before You Assume Why….
Before You Assume Why is a short, reflective quiz that helps adults see behaviour through a different lens, starting with their own experience. Over five steps, it asks you to recall a time you felt judged or misunderstood, name what the other person couldn’t see (stress, tiredness, overwhelm, trying to remember too much), and then turn that same thinking towards a child or young person you sometimes find yourself judging. You’ll tick the executive function skills that could be driving the behaviour you’re seeing, consider how stress, environment, sensory load, tiredness or peer pressure may be making those skills harder to access, and finish by flipping the judgement into something you could ask or try. It’s a quick, personal way to build empathy and put curiosity before assumption, ideal for staff training, CPD sessions or individual reflection, and a natural companion to our Before You Assume Why flyer.
