Neurolab: When Small Things Feel Big

Understanding Rejection Sensitivity and Executive Function with NHS

A practical, insight-led webinar exploring why feedback, challenge and small setbacks can feel overwhelming and how to respond in ways that support both performance and wellbeing.

Presented by Victoria Galvis

NHS GP with a special interest in neurodiversity (ADHD, autism), women’s health (including menopause) and oncology.  An advocate with lived experience, Victoria brings both clinical insight and real-world understanding to her work, with a strong focus on education and public speaking.

Overview Section

Across workplaces, classrooms and coaching spaces, many individuals experience feedback, challenge or small mistakes as far more intense than expected.

What may appear as withdrawal, defensiveness or avoidance is often rooted in something deeper.

Rejection sensitivity, sometimes referred to as Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), describes an intense emotional response to perceived criticism, failure or rejection.

When this response is triggered, access to executive function can reduce. Thinking becomes harder. Regulation becomes harder. Re-engaging becomes harder.

This session will help you understand what is happening underneath these moments and how to respond in a way that supports both effectiveness and emotional safety.
